About me

My passion for barbecue

This page was created with the goal of helping others barbecue with more confidence and, most importantly, more enjoyment. While there is plenty of information available online, it often lacks the practical depth needed to make your own decisions when preparing meat. Questions like “When should I spritz it?”, “Should I wrap it?”, or “Which technique should I use?” often remain unanswered.

I want to take away that uncertainty and the fear of ruining an expensive piece of meat. Barbecuing involves many different styles, techniques, accessories, and terms, which can make it difficult for beginners to know where to start.

That’s why I want to provide clear, practical, and accessible information without assuming that you already have the knowledge, experience, or equipment needed. My goal is to guide you step by step, so you can confidently get started and enjoy the process yourself.

About Thomahawk

My goal

You can expect me to help you from the very beginning, or if you’ve already been barbecuing for a while and want to take the next step. How am I going to do that? Here’s a little insight into what I’ll be focusing on on this page:

  • I’ll start with the basics. This includes things like controlling and maintaining your barbecue.
Your first use, choosing the right charcoal, how to light your fire starters, when to use a heat deflector, and what temperature is best for searing or slow cooking. And much more.
  • I’ll help you navigate the wide range of products available. What products are out there, and how can you use them effectively?
There are so many products on the market that sometimes it’s hard to see the wood for the trees. I want to highlight the practical barbecue products that can actually make a difference, so you can make the right choices for your outdoor kitchen.
  • I’ll help you understand the terminology and techniques. How do different barbecue techniques work? How do you control your temperature? Or take the reverse sear, for example, where the meat is slowly brought up to the desired internal temperature before being seared. Why cook it this way, and why not reverse the process?

My hope is to inspire you to become a better barbecue cook and to find the same enjoyment in barbecue that I have found. I hope you have a great time exploring my page, and if you have any suggestions, please feel free to share them. I truly appreciate all forms of feedback.
